In response to intensifying heatwave conditions, the government of Odisha has announced early summer vacation for schools across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the decision, citing concerns over the health and safety of students amid soaring temperatures.
The directive states that all government, government-aided and private schools will remain closed from April 27 until further notice.

While classroom teaching will be suspended, the government clarified that essential academic and administrative activities will proceed as planned.
Examinations that have already been scheduled will continue without any changes. Additionally, census-related duties and other official responsibilities assigned to teachers and school staff will remain unaffected.
Authorities emphasised that necessary arrangements will be made to ensure that these activities are conducted smoothly despite the closure of schools for regular classes.
