Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed district administrations across Uttar Pradesh to provide updates every three hours regarding damage caused by storms, heavy rain and lightning strikes that have affected multiple parts of the state over the past 24 hours.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to widely publicise rescue operations, compensation distribution and relief measures through social media platforms to ensure transparency and timely dissemination of information to the public.
The directions came after severe weather conditions swept through several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, resulting in significant loss of life and widespread destruction.
According to official figures, at least 89 people lost their lives due to storms, lightning strikes and rain-related incidents, while 53 others sustained injuries. Authorities also reported damage to 87 buildings and the death of nearly 114 cattle across affected districts.
Multiple Districts Report Extensive Damage
The severe weather conditions impacted several districts, including Barabanki, Bahraich, Kanpur Dehat, Basti, Sambhal, Hardoi and Unnao, among others.
Officials stated that strong winds, heavy rainfall and lightning strikes caused extensive destruction in both urban and rural areas. Several houses suffered structural damage, trees were uprooted and power supply disruptions were reported in many locations.
The state administration has begun compiling district-wise assessments of losses related to human casualties, livestock deaths and agricultural damage.

CM Orders Immediate Relief and Compensation
