This license allows Starlink to set up ground stations and provide satellite broadband services in India. The company will also need to partner with local firms, meet cybersecurity and data protection requirements, and follow all regulatory guidelines.
Now that the license has been granted, Starlink will begin setting up its infrastructure, including user terminals, satellite dishes, and ground stations. Customers will need to purchase a Starlink kit, which typically includes a small satellite dish, a Wi-Fi router, and a mounting stand.
Pricing details for India have not yet been announced, but in other countries, the equipment costs around $499 (approximately ₹41,000), and the monthly subscription is about $99 (around ₹8,000). However, the company may offer adjusted pricing in India to make the service more affordable.

Competition in the Indian Market
With Starlink now joining the Indian satellite internet space, the competition is expected to increase. Earlier, Jio Space Fiber announced plans to offer satellite broadband, and OneWeb, which is backed by Bharti Enterprises, is also gearing up for nationwide services.
