Guwahati, April 6: More than 10.55 lakh voters are set to participate in the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2026 across five key constituencies in Kamrup (Metropolitan) district, according to the District Election Office.

The constituencies—Dispur, Dimoria, New Guwahati, Guwahati Central and Jalukbari—collectively account for 10,55,288 registered voters, reflecting the district’s significance in the state’s electoral landscape.


Voter Distribution Across Constituencies

The official data shows a relatively balanced gender distribution among voters.

Out of the total electorate:

  • Male voters: 5,07,857
  • Female voters: 5,47,400
  • Third gender voters: 31

Among the constituencies, Dispur has the highest number of voters at 2,44,725. This includes 1,17,771 male voters, 1,26,943 female voters, and 11 third gender voters.

Dimoria has 2,18,158 voters, followed by Jalukbari with 2,07,642 voters.

Meanwhile, New Guwahati and Guwahati Central each have around 1.92 lakh voters, indicating closely matched constituencies in terms of electorate size.


Polling Infrastructure in Place

Election authorities have set up a total of 1,218 polling stations across these five constituencies to facilitate smooth voting.

The constituency-wise breakup is as follows:

  • Dispur: 272 polling stations
  • Dimoria: 262 polling stations
  • New Guwahati: 219 polling stations
  • Guwahati Central: 218 polling stations
  • Jalukbari: 247 polling stations

Each constituency will also feature one model polling station, designed to enhance voter experience with improved facilities and accessibility.


Women-Led Polling Stations Highlight Inclusion

In a significant step towards inclusive electoral participation, 120 polling stations in Kamrup (Metro) will be managed entirely by women.

These include:

  • 21 in Dispur
  • 9 in Dimoria
