Compressed Biogas Conclave Pune was inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, who highlighted the growing importance of compressed biogas (CBG) in strengthening India’s clean energy ecosystem.
The conclave, organized by the Indian Federation of Green Energy in Pune, focused on developing an efficient and robust CBG production ecosystem in the country. The event brought together policymakers, industry stakeholders, and energy experts to discuss strategies for expanding compressed biogas infrastructure and investment.
Speaking at the Compressed Biogas Conclave Pune, Gadkari emphasized that compressed biogas has significant potential in supporting India’s transition toward cleaner energy sources. According to the minister, CBG can also promote circular economy practices by converting agricultural residue and organic waste into renewable fuel.
He noted that the development of the CBG sector could play an important role in empowering rural communities by generating additional income opportunities and improving waste management systems.
Gadkari also stated that the government is committed to accelerating innovation, investment, and policy support to strengthen the country’s bio-energy ecosystem. Such efforts aim to encourage sustainable fuel alternatives while reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuels.
Industry representatives attending the Compressed Biogas Conclave Pune discussed the need to expand supply chains, improve infrastructure, and enhance collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders to accelerate growth in the bio-energy sector.
